Vern had several meals here but most were at Chuck Wagon across street.  |

NAVAL EXCHANGE You could buy most things like in States but they run out fast. Vern sent packages home from here too.  |

Vern Locked Up
One
Sunday, Vern was working on computer alone in the utilities office
building and
had to make a normal trip to the head. Going back to office
he found himself
locked into an area that was secure all around and he could not get
out. He
could get to an outdoor area behind the fence. There he saw a
guard walking
the Ammo Magazine area and called out to him and asked for help.
Well ...he
was
very duty prown, he called on his radio and quickly a Marine, still ...shaving,
appeared with his rifle in hand shouting where is he. Also two
jeep ...loads
of MP's come racing around the corner with the Officer of the Day in ...charge.
The Officer started laughing and called my Utilities sponsor who came ...and
let me out.
